OUR STORY

The International-Tour de 'Toona bicycle race was created nearly 20 years ago as a one-day race to energize and rally the Altoona community behind an athletic event the city could call its own. Initially called the Tour de 'Toona, its original goal was to draw people into downtown Altoona in the dog days of August.

From those humble beginnings, the race - which highlights women's events - has grown to become the largest pro-am cycling event in North America, and #1 rated women's race in the US. The appeal is international. It has become extremely well known and highly respected among participants and enthusiasts, who commonly are more affluent and more highly educated than population averages. Today, people come from North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa to ride in or to view The International-Tour de 'Toona.
